ISLAMABAD: The list of the 282 journalists who received payments and gifts from the secret fund of the information ministry was made public following a Supreme Court order. The complete list can be viewed as a PDF here, or scroll down to the bottom of this report. The list of disbursements totals just over Rs177 million. Jasmeen Manzoor, Arif Nizami, Saleh Zafar, Munizhe Jehangir, Rameeza Nizami, Dr Hasan Askari Rizvi, Asma Chaudhry, Sherbano Taseer, Raza Rumi, Amir Mir, Sohail Warraich, Nazir Naji and Baqir Sajjad Syed feature on the list, among others. According to the rules and regulations, the purpose of the secret fund is only to obtain or uncover sensitive information necessary to protect ‘national interest/national security’. It cannot be used for any other purpose, such as emergencies or incidental expenses. All withdrawals are supposed to come under specific heads and justifications. Another list of 155 journalists who took gifts and payments from the information ministry will also be made public later. A spokesman of the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting clarified that secret funds have no link with Inter Services Public Relations (ISPR) and the Inter Services Intelligence (ISI),tweeted Radio Pakistan. Background SC Judge Jawwad S Khawja remarked during the April 11 hearing of the information ministry secret funds case that Rs300 million was apparently given away to a private television channel. Journalists and members of the civil society demanded the Supreme Court make public the names of the private TV channel that received Rs300 million from the information ministry and of all those journalists who allegedly received huge payments from the ministry. All of us daily receive many calls, SMS from our friends, Family members. But sometimes it happens that we do receive Some SMS/Calls which we really do not want to receive. Even some from the Telco, your service provider. Some of the people try to hire some SMS Marketing Companies, and they keep sending you SMS, even some of the SMS are about the products which you even can not imagine to read that text with your family.

These types of Unwanted SMS/Calls are against the Law. You can report these type of SMS/Calls to the PTA and PTA Will surely take action against them.

Procedure:

Send an SMS to 9000 with these details;

  • Text Content which you received.
  • Sender Cell Number
  • Your Name, and ID Card Number
  • Any other details you want to add regarding Sender.

Charges:

10 Paisa Including Tax will be charged for sending Text on 9000.

Once you are done, PTA is going to take action for sure, whether is the Telco Company, or any person who is sending you unwanted SMS.

ISLAMABAD – The broadcast of Capital TV, a private TV channel owned by former FIA deputy director general Ahmed Riaz Sheikh, was shut down across the country just now when a guest on a live talk show insulted Chief of Army Staff General Ashfaq Kayani.

Sources in PEMRA told Pakistan Today on condition of anonymity that a guest on a talk show hosted by prominent journalist Ijaz Haider insulted the COAS using foul language live on air. The guests on the show were Marvi Sirmed and Amad Khalid, a former personal secretary to Zaid Hamid.

Soon after the episode, PEMRA officials decided to take the channel off air indefinitely.
