Islamabad: Former president Supreme Court Bar Association Asman Jahangir has alleged that creators of the Pakistan Tehrik-e- Insaf were behind the conspiracy against the judges and the apex court, a reference to Arsalan case.

Speaking to media on Monday, Mrs Jehangir said she had not conspired against the court as she never met property tycoon Malik Riaz.

“Those who created PTI are behind the conspiracy against Supreme Court of Pakistan,” she said, adding that the conspiracy was aimed at pressuring the judges.

Replying a query regarding new prime minister, she said the Pakistan People’s Party had not given good message to the people by making Raja Pervez Ashraf Prime Minister.

SC made several corruption cases, which i don’t know are right or wrong but i am sure about Mr Asharaf’s involvement in  corruption.

Answering another question, she said the Supreme Court should itself sent a letter to Swiss authorities instead of asking the prime minister.

On-air, off-air clips submitted by PEMRA being viewed during a meeting of the full court.

ISLAMABAD: In an attempt at damage control, Dunya TV channel’s management registered a criminal case against ‘unidentifed’ people responsible for publicising off-air footage of a controversial interview with Bahria Town chief Malik Riaz.

The footage went viral on the internet since it was first anonymously uploaded on video sharing website Youtube, showing an off-the-record conversation between television anchors Meher Bokhari and Mubasher Lucman, and Riaz. The footage made public on Thursday made some shocking revelations, including the fact that the entire interview was planted.

The Kohsar police said they registered an FIR on an application filed by Zulfiqar Massi, the administration manager of Dunya TV.

He maintained in his complaint that “unidentified people” had stolen the footage from their Islamabad office in sector F-7/1, which was not supposed to be put on record.

A police official who did not want to be named said the channel’s management did not nominate anyone as a suspect. He hinted, however, that certain names could be put forward as suspects in the future.

The official said though the ‘thieves’ were likely to be people from within the organisation, the possibility that the footage had been stolen by an outsider could not be ruled out either.

LAHORE – There’s a war raging on in the media. And another in the hearts and minds of the people.
The Malik Riaz-Arsalan graft scandal has brought forth a facet of media that was the last thing on people’s mind, who marveled at the freedom and impartiality exercised by the country’s fourth estate while grinding the politicians for their alleged corruption and indifference towards the people.
Wednesday’s “exclusive” interview of Malik Riaz conducted by fiery Dunya News anchor Meher Bukhari, who a Norwegian founder of a trendy genre of journalism once called the “perfect type of candidate to promote Pakistan”, and Mubashar Lucman, the host of Khari Baat (true talk), was little expected to become for Pakistanis what the atomic bomb was for Hiroshima. While Dunya News spent the day in damage control exercises like downplaying its rival Geo News, claiming how the channel had lied to people at several occasions and backtracked, and talking to the people on the streets who instantly supported Dunya News for its upright stance and morals, all is still not well on the air waves.
Dunya News posted on its website that Geo News was admonished for airing baseless news against the judiciary in Arsalan case order.
Its transmission also kept repeating the following tickers, demonizing Geo News and its anchors:
(1)Hamid Mir was accused by Sheikh Rashid for arranging ‘paid’ programmes.
(2)Hamid Mir and Kamran Khan confessed in writing to the Supreme Court that they aired stories without verification.
(3) Shaheen Sehbai’s interview was uploaded without establishing the authenticity of its contents.
(4) Geo News picked up propaganda campaign against judiciary after Shaheen Sehbai uploaded the interview.

Renowned TV anchor, Dr Shahid Masood on Thursday,  responded to the inclusion of his name within the list of 19 journalists alleged of being bribed by the Bahria Town owner, Malik Riaz.

According to the list,  Dr. Shahid Masood, was financed for 7 trips to Dubai along with other monetary incentive. The anchor has responded to this accusation by tweeting on his personal account on the social networking website “Twitter”. He has tweeted that he is living in Dubai for the last ten years further asking Malik Riaz to blame him (Shahid Masood) in a better way in the future.

Dr. Masood has also pointed out in his tweet that a media guy was involved in bringing up the list and that particular media guy was on the payroll of Malik Riaz.

Dr. Masood also opined that PTI was not involved in bringing up the list and that a close aide (having strong media affiliation) of Malik Riaz was the main actor in the entire scenario.
